The regeneration work, in Piazza Cesare Battisti, near the city’s Train Station, in a central area, includes both the inside of the decommissioned railway areas and the external zones of the yard, the Park and Ride car park, the parks and gardens area and the sports facilities covering a total surface area of 100,000 sq m. The area is to be transformed with the construction of 28,000 sq m gross floor area for residential use and 17,000 sq m GFA for commercial, managerial and service activity that is to be established in an agreement with the town and province. The plant includes the construction of the new municipal authority offices. The parks and gardens and services areas, as well as the Park and Ride car park will be kept. The clearly excellent location, in terms of geographical centrality, easy vehicle access and optimum public transport links, make the work extremely interesting.

The refurbishment initiative is at the heart of the city and of the multimodal transport centre of Rimini city (147,793 inhabitants), the capital of the province of the same name (335,199 inhabitants), the sixth largest city of the Emilia-Romagna Region (4,450,508 inhabitants) by resident population. The city extends for around 15 km along the Adriatic coast, a position that has placed it first in Italy in terms of visitors to summer beach tourism locations. It is also one of Europe’s leading trade fair and conference sites. The city has excellent vehicle access, guaranteed not just by local networks, but by proximity to the SS 16 main road and the A-14 Bologna – Taranto motorway, 4.5 km from the Station zone. Well served by the rail infrastructure and by an efficient urban and out-of-town public transport network, the zone is one of the most interesting locations in the city
